Red Prairie HIV/AIDS Awareness
Description: HIV prevention information,
and awareness campaigns for Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal
people.
Goal: The goal for 2004-2006 is to provide HIV
prevention education to inmates within the provincial
correctional institutions, including young offender
institutions.
Services: Free condoms, and a variety of resources
including pamphlets.
Youth Involvement: Youth are part of the program's Advisory
Committee, and help to create prevention messages.
Age Range: All ages

Ndinawe Outreach Program

Harsh Reality 2
Description: A resource book created by
and for street-involved youth that focuses on STI and
HIV prevention, and includes information on suicide,
self harm, drugs and legal issues related to street
life. Harsh Reality 1, which focuses on HIV prevention
and includes information on drugs, piercing, gangs and
depression, was completed in 2002.
Goal: STI and HIV prevention is the primary goal
of the Harsh Reality project.
Services: Youth distribute the resource book
to a variety of services and organizations.
Youth Involvement: From beginning to end, the resource
book is created and designed entirely by street-involved
youth.
Age Range: 17-24

Teen Talk
Description: Teen Talk is an established
Youth Health Education Service of Klinic Community Health
Centre that provides services from a youth perspective
to youth in school, youth at risk and service providers.
Goal: To provide youth with accurate, non-judgemental
information, so that they can make healthier choices
for themselves.
Services: Youth Health Educators develop and
deliver interactive workshops (on sexual health, mental
health, decision making and diversity) to youth in high
schools, custody, and care or treatment facilities;
and youth are trained to educate their peers on healthy
relationships, sexuality, body image, etc. and then
initiate activities in their schools such as information
tables, skits and educational events.
Youth Involvement: The workshops and peer education
program are led entirely by and for youth.
Age Range: 14-19
