Resource Night
Description: The Community Youth Network
is mandated to develop an array of services for youth
living in, or at risk of, poverty. Resource night is
a designated night to expand youth knowledge about various
topics, including HIV/AIDS prevention and harm reduction.
Goal: To provide information in a positive, warm
atmosphere where youth can converse freely and get the
facts they need on various topics.
Services: Resources and information on a range
of topics in a youth-friendly environment.
Youth Involvement: Topics covered are based on youth
interests.
Age Range: 12-24

Needle Exchange Program (NEP)
Description: NEP is an HIV and hepatitis
C prevention program targeting injection drug users,
including youth.
Goal: To prevent the spread of HIV, hepatitis
C and other blood borne pathogens.
Services: Safe disposal of used needles; provision
of free needles, ?lters, swabs, condoms, etc.; support
and education on harm reduction practices; and free
testing for HIV, hepatitis C, STIs, and pregnancy.
Youth Involvement: Through sessions held in conjunction
with youth serving agencies, youth input is sought with
respect to future expansion and delivery of NEP services.
Age Range: 16 and up

Reaching Injection Drug Users in St. John's
Description: A Health Canada funded project to
conduct a needs assessment with injection drug users
in the St. John's area.
Goal: To determine the barriers to injection
drug users receiving services; to build capacity of
community groups in St. John's to better serve the injection
drug user community; and to prevent the spread of HIV
and hepatitis C.
Services: Education on injection drug use to
youth, youth serving agencies, and other community-based
organizations.
Youth Involvement: Youth are involved in advising the
work of the project and youth co-facilitate education
sessions.
Age Range: 16 and up
