Dream Catchers
Description: A softball league coached by
a group of First Nations coaches that engages female
youth from inner city Regina to play softball and compete
in a competitive league.
Goal: To involve female youth in sports so as
to reduce their likelihood of becoming involved with
street life, drugs and alcohol, dropping out of school,
and/or becoming pregnant.
Services: Teach youth how to play softball, good
sportsmanship, leadership and respect for others and
themselves.
Youth Involvement: Older players are peer mentors
to younger players - they provide leadership and act
as role models to the younger players. Youth are also
involved in the local Walk for Life, and as volunteers
with All Nations Hope AIDS Network.

Y.E.A.H. (Youth Educating About Health)
Description: Y.E.A.H. is a youth driven
program that educates about risky behavior through peer
education. Y.E.A.H. currently reaches many high-risk
groups (i.e. youth in custody, street youth, Aboriginal
youth), educating about hepatitis C, contraception,
decision making, the effects of alcohol and drugs, STIs
including HIV/AIDS and many other sexual health topics.
Goal: To provide interactive peer education with
a focus on sexual health.
Services: Sexual health, HIV/AIDS and hepatitis
C education.
Youth Involvement: Youth are involved in the design,
delivery and evaluation of the program.
Age Range: 14-25

Youth for Youth
Description: A group of youth volunteers
who have come together to increase awareness about
STIs and HIV/AIDS and how to prevent them.
Goal: To make sexual health information and
resources more accessible and youth-friendly.
Services: Support; resources; advocacy; free
condoms; drink safe drug testing cards; safe rave
kits; a sexual health information video, "Freshly
Squeezed: Safer Sex in a Can" which can be ordered;
interactive workshops and education; and a safe space
for youth.
Youth Involvement: All of the events, activities,
and workshops are youth driven and designed.

Out and Proud Youth (OPY)
Description: OPY is a group that offers
support and friendship for gay, lesbian, bisexual and
transgender youth and their allies in a safe environment.
Goal: To connect youth so as to decrease the
isolation that many GLBTQ youth experience.
Services: Potlucks, movie nights, games, other
activities; discussion nights on topics such as safer
sex, HIV/AIDS and drug use; all ages dances; and Pride
events.
Youth Involvement: Youth are involved in the planning
of group activities, outings, events and learning sessions.
Age Range: 12-22
