Will my doctor tell my parents?

“I don’t want to tell my doctor I am HIV positive because he will tell my parents.”

The law in Canada says that your doctor cannot tell that you are HIV positive!  So don’t put off going to your doctor because you are scared of people finding out.

If you think you been HIV positive for a long time, you really need to talk to a doctor soon. The longer you’re HIV positive and don’t get any treatment, the more damage HIV can potentially do to your immune system and body. Your immune system is what keeps you from getting sick.  And if it gets hurt, it cannot fight sickness.
