Know your illness
Knowledge is power! Learn as
much about HIV as you can. HIV
is the perfect example of how knowing
your illness and your body can help
you manage your disease. If you don't
know where to start, ask your doctor
or local HIV agency to help you get
started. And keep in mind that before
acting on any information you find
on the Internet, review it with your
doctor. Any information 2 years
or older is most likely outdated!
The Canadian AIDS Treatment Information
Exchange (CATIE) has peer HIV treatment
information counselors on staff who
are trained to answer questions from
people living with HIV/AIDS, their
friends, family members and health
care providers about HIV, its treatment
and side effects. You can call them
from anywhere in Canada at 1-800-263-1638
for FREE and ask them the questions
that you have about your HIV disease
and HIV treatment.
