Bread and cereals
Bread, grains and cereals are in
this group.
According to Canadas Food Guide,
you should eat 4 servings or
more each day.
One serving could be any of the following:
- 1 slice of bread
- 1 bowl of breakfast cereal
- 1 half cup of noodles, macaroni,
rice or grits. (about the size of
a scoop of ice cream). A typical
plateful of spaghetti would be 2
or more servings.
- 1 pancake, waffle, tortilla or
slice of corn bread
- 1 biscuit
- 5 crackers
The foods in this section all have
lots of fibre in them. Fibre is good
because it helps stop intestinal infections
and cleans your colon.
Tip:
- The best way to get fibre is
by eating whole grains like
brown rice, millet, quinoa, buckwheat,
oats and barley.
